Benign Brain Tumour

A benign (non-cancerous) brain tumour is a mass of cells that grows slowly in the brain. It usually stays in one place and does not spread. Generally, brain tumours are graded from 1 to 4, according to their behaviour, such as how fast they grow and how likely they are to grow back after treatment.

SYMPTOMS

Most benign brain tumors are found by ct or mri brain scans. Thesetumors usually grow slowly, do not invade surrounding tissues or spread to other organs, and often have a border or edge that can be seen on ct scans. These tumors rarely develop into metastatic (cancerous or spreading) tumors.

CAUSES

Benign brain tumors are noncancerous. Malignant primary brain tumors are cancers that originate in the brain, typically grow faster thanbenign tumors, and aggressively invade surrounding tissue. Althoughbrain cancer rarely spreads to other organs, it will spread to other parts of the brain and central nervous system.
