Abortion
An abortion is the premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta) from the uterus. It is the loss of a pregnancy and does not refer to why that pregnancy was lost. A spontaneous abortion is the same as a miscarriage.
SYMPTOMS
- Pain areas: in the abdomen, lower back, or pelvis
- Groin: vaginal bleeding, uterine contraction, or vaginal discharge
- Gastrointestinal: nausea or vomiting
- Also common: cramping, irregular uterine bleeding, or fatigue
CAUSES
- Poor diet, or malnutrition, drug and alcohol use, advanced maternal age, untreated thyroid disease, uncontrolled diabetes,
- Infections, trauma, obesity.
