Allergic Purpura
Henoch-schonlein purpura (hsp) is a disease involving inflammation of small blood vessels. It most commonly occurs in children. The inflammation causes blood vessels in the skin, intestines, kidneys, and joints to start leaking.
SYMPTOMS
Symptoms include reddish-purple spots on the lower extremities, swollen and sore joints, abdominal pain or bloody urine.
CAUSES
Causes and risk factors for henoch-schonlein purpura. The exact cause of hsp is not known. The body's immune system is believed to play a role in targeting the blood vessels involved. An abnormal immune response to an infection may be a factor in many cases.
