Aseptic Necrosis

Aseptic necrosis also called avascular necrosis is the death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply. Also called osteonecrosis, avascular necrosis can lead to tiny breaks in the bone and the bone's eventual collapse. The blood flow to a section of bone can be interrupted if the bone is fractured or the joint becomes dislocated.

SYMPTOMS

Pain areas: in the hip, buttocks, groin, knee, or thigh. Also common: collapse, joint stiffness, or limping

CAUSES

Dislocation or fracture of the thigh bone (femur). This type of injury can affect the blood supply to the bone, leading to trauma-related avascular necrosis,  chronic corticosteroid use, excessive alcohol use, blood clots, inflammation, and damage to the arteries.
