Diseases
Bleeding(Heavy Flow)
Menstrual disorders and abnormal uterine bleeding (aub) are among the most frequent gynecologic complaints of adolescents . Aub refers to bleeding that is excessive or occurs outside of normal cyclic menstruation
SYMPTOMS
Usually there are no accompanying symptoms, but depending on the trigger of scanty period, a woman may experience nausea, headache, pelvic pain, lightheadedness, etc.
CAUSES
- Uterine fibroids may cause heavier than normal or prolonged menstrual bleeding. Polyps. Small, benign growths on the lining of the uterus (uterine polyps) may cause heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding. Polyps of the uterus most commonly occur in women of reproductive age as the result of high hormone levels.
- A prolonged time of heavy bleeding during your period could cause anemia or could lead to: fertility-threatening fibroids, growths on the uterine wall; polyps, tumors in the cervix or uterus; or endometriosis. These conditions are more prevalent in women after the age of 35.
