Dementia
Dementia, also known as senility, is a broad category of brain diseases that cause a long term and often gradual decrease in the ability to think and remember that is great enough to affect a person's daily functioning.
SYMPTOMS
- A person with dementia will have cognitive symptoms (problems with thinking or memory).
- Day-to-day memory – difficulty recalling events that happened recently
- Concentrating, planning or organising – difficulties making decisions,
- Visuospatial skills – problems judging distances (eg on stairs) and seeing objects in three dimensions
- Orientation –becoming confused about where they are.
CAUSES
People with this disease typically have limb stiffness (which causes them to shuffle when they walk), speech problems, and tremor (shaking at rest). Dementia may develop late in the disease, but not everyone with parkinson's disease has dementia. Reasoning, memory, speech, and judgment are most likely to be affected.Untreated Brain infections (for example, hiv, lyme disease) damage brain cells by forming lesions and trigger inflammatory responses that damage or kill brain cells. And also caused due to unhealthy life style.
