Fanilial Nonhemolytic Jaundice
Mild icterus due to increased amounts of unconjugated bilirubin in the plasma without evidence of liver damage, biliary obstruction, or hemolysi. Jaundice is a sign of an underlying disease process. Bilirubin is a by-product of the daily natural breakdown and destruction of red blood cells in the body.
SYMPTOMS
- Fatigue.
- Abdominal pain.
- Weight loss.
- Vomiting.
- Fever.
- Pale stools.
- Dark urine.
CAUSES
- Alcohol abuse.
- Liver infection.
- Liver cancer.
- Cirrhosis (scarring of the liver, usually due to alcohol)
- Gallstones (cholesterol stones made of hardened fat material or pigment stones made of bilirubin)
- Hepatitis (disease and swelling of the liver that decreases its ability to function)
- Pancreatic cancer.
