Fanilial Nonhemolytic Jaundice

Mild icterus due to increased amounts of unconjugated bilirubin in the plasma without evidence of liver damage, biliary obstruction, or hemolysi. Jaundice is a sign of an underlying disease process. Bilirubin is a by-product of the daily natural breakdown and destruction of red blood cells in the body.

SYMPTOMS

Fatigue.
Abdominal pain.
Weight loss.
Vomiting.
Fever.
Pale stools.
Dark urine.

CAUSES

Alcohol abuse.
Liver infection.
Liver cancer.
Cirrhosis (scarring of the liver, usually due to alcohol)
Gallstones (cholesterol stones made of hardened fat material or pigment stones made of bilirubin)
Hepatitis (disease and swelling of the liver that decreases its ability to function)
Pancreatic cancer.
