Generalised Seizure
Generalized seizures, as opposed to focal seizures, are a type of seizure that impairs consciousness and distorts the electrical activity of the whole or a larger portion of the brain (which can be seen, for example, on electroencephalography, eeg).
SYMPTOMS
The seizure has two stages. Loss of consciousness occurs first and lasts about 10 to 20 seconds, followed by muscle convulsions that usually last for less than two minutes.
CAUSES
- Genetics.
- A change in the structure of your brain.
- Autism.
- An infections of the brain, such as meningitis or encephalitis.
- Head trauma.
- A brain tumor.
- Alzheimer's disease.
- A stroke, or a loss of blood flow to the brain resulting in brain cell death.
