Genital Warts In Woman

Genital warts, which are also called condylomata acuminata or venereal warts, are growths in the genital area caused by a sexually transmitted papillomavirus. A papillomavirus is a virus that produces papillomas, or benign growths on the skin and mucous membranes.

SYMPTOMS

  • Small, flesh-colored or gray swellings in your genital area.
  • Several warts close together that take on a cauliflower-like shape.
  • Itching or discomfort in your genital area.
  • Bleeding with intercourse.

CAUSES

Genital warts are a sexually transmitted infection (sti) caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (hpv). These skin growths can causepain, discomfort, and itching. They are especially dangerous for women because some types of hpvcan also cause cancer of the cervix and vulva.
