Group B Strep during Pregnancy
Group b streptococcus infection. ... In babies, strepinfections are divided into early-onset and late-onset disease. Early- onset disease presents within the first six days of life with breathing difficulty, shock, pneumonia, and occasionally infection of the spinal fluid and brain (meningitis).
SYMPTOMS
- Pain areas: in the skin
- Pain circumstances: can occur during urination
- Whole body: fever or lethargy
- Also common: low birth weight, pneumonia, skin rash, urinary tract infection, or vaginal discharge
CAUSES
If you're an older adult or you have a chronic health condition, group b strep bacteria may cause complications such as: skin infection (cellulitis) infection of the bloodstream (sepsis) urinary tract infection.
