Guttate Psoriasis
Guttate psoriasis is a type of psoriasis that appears as small, salmon-pink bumps on the skin. The word guttate is derived from the latin word gutta, meaning drop. Usually there are fine scales atop the small round to oval lesion. Guttate Psoriasis. Red drop-like lesions are found on the skin.
SYMPTOMS
- Small, salmon-pink (or red) spots usually appear suddenly on the skin two to three weeks after a streptococcal infection, such as strep throat or tonsillitis.
- The drop-like lesions are usually itchy.
CAUSES
- Bacteria or viral infections, including upper respiratory infections.
- Injury to the skin, including cuts, burns, and insect bites.
- Some medicines, including those used to treat malaria and certain heart conditions.
- Stress.
- Sunburn.
