Helicobacter Pylori

A bacterium that causes stomach inflammation (gastritis) and ulcers in the stomach and duodenum. This bacterium is the most common cause of ulcers worldwide. H. pylori infection may be acquired from contaminated food and water or through person-to-person contact.

SYMPTOMS

  • Abdominal pain that's worse when your stomach is empty.

  • Loss of appetite.

CAUSES

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a type of bacteria. These germs can enter your body and live in your digestive tract. After many years, they can cause sores, calledulcers, in the lining of your stomach or the upper part of your small intestine. For some people, an infection can lead to stomach cancer.
