Hepatitis
An inflammation of the liver. Hepatitis is Most often caused by a virus, but it can be the result of exposure to certain toxic agents, such as drugs or chemicals. One viral form of the disease is spread by contaminated food and water, and other forms by contaminated injection needles and blood transfusions.
SYMPTOMS
When symptoms occur, they can include yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue and fever.
CAUSES
Hepatitis refers to an inflammatory condition of the liver. It's commonly caused by a viral infection, but there are other possible causes of hepatitis. These include autoimmune hepatitis and hepatitis that occurs as a secondary result of medications, drugs, toxins, and alcohol.
