Hughes Syndrome

Antiphospholipid syndrome can cause blood clots to form within the arteries, veins and organs. It can also cause miscarriage and stillbirth in pregnant women.

SYMPTOMS

Symptoms may include blood clots, which may occur in the legs, arms or lungs. Recurrent miscarriages may also be common.Blood-thinning medication can reduce the risk of blood clots.

  • Pain areas: in the chest
  • Respiratory: blood clots in the lungs or shortness of breath
  • Also common: deep vein thrombosis, pain in the affected area, purplish skin discolouration, recurrent miscarriage, or swelling of limb

CAUSES

Antiphospholipid syndrome (aps) is caused by the body's immune system producing abnormal antibodies called antiphospholipid antibodies. This increases the risk of blood clots developing in the blood vessels, which can lead to serious health problems, such as: deep vein thrombosis (dvt)
