Laryngeal Cancer

Laryngeal cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the larynx. Use of tobacco products and drinking too much alcohol can affect the risk oflaryngeal cancer. Signs and symptoms of laryngeal cancer include a sore throat and ear pain.

SYMPTOMS

  • A change in your voice, such as sounding hoarse,
  • Pain when swallowing or difficulty swallowing, a lump or swelling in your neck, a long-lasting cough, a persistent sore throat or earache, in severe cases, difficulty breathing.

CAUSES

Laryngeal cancer is a rare cancer in which malignant cells grow in the larynx, or voice box. Smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol are the main risk factors for laryngeal cancer.
