Leptospiros
An infectious bacterial disease occurring in rodents, dogs, and other mammals, which can be transmitted to humans.
SYMPTOMS
In humans, leptospirosis can cause a wide range of symptoms, including:
- high fever
- headache
- chills
- muscle aches
- vomiting
- jaundice (yellow skin and eyes)
- red eyes
- abdominal pain
- diarrhea
- rash
CAUSES
Leptospirosis is an infection caused by corkscrew-shaped bacteria called leptospira. Signs and symptoms can range from none to mild such as headaches, muscle pains, and fevers; to severe with bleeding from the lungs or meningitis.
