Meibomian Cyst
An inflammation of the oil gland of the eyelid. Also known as chalazion or tarsal cyst.
SYMPTOMS
Patients usually present with a hard painless swelling in the either lid increasing very gradually in size and a feeling of mild heaviness without inflammatory symptoms.
CAUSES
- Blockage in one of the tiny meibomian glands of the upper and lower eyelids. The oil these glands produce helps to moisten the eyes.
- Inflammation or viruses affecting the meibomian glands are the underlying causes of chalazia
