Metritis: inflammation of the uterus.

SYMPTOMS

Abdominal swelling,abnormal vaginal bleeding,abnormal vaginal discharge,constipation,discomfort when having a bowel movement,fever,general feeling of sickness,pain in the pelvis, lower abdominal area, or rectal area.

CAUSES

Metritis (inflammation of the uterus) is caused by bacterial infection. Metritis, aninflammation of the uterus, is caused by bacterial infection, and usually is seen following calving. It occurs most commonly after calvings complicated by dystocia, retained fetal membranes, twins or stillbirths.
