CAUSES

Bacteria that produce toxins that irritate the lining of the colon. Viruses that trigger inflammation. Autoimmune Disease associated with microscopic colitis, such asrheumatoid arthritis or celiac disease. Autoimmune Disease occurs when your body's immune system attacks healthy tissues.
