Myeloid Lukemia

It is an aggressive (fast-growing) disease in which too many myeloblasts (immature white blood cells that are not lymphoblasts) are found in the bone marrow and blood. Also called acute myeloblastic leukemia, acute myelogenous leukemia, acute nonlymphocytic leukemia, aml, and anll.

SYMPTOMS

Patients with aml often have several non-specific (general) symptoms like - 

  • Weight loss
  • Fatigue
  • Fever
  • Night sweats
  • Loss of appetite. & main symptoms like- 
  • Bleeding and clotting problems
  • Bone or joint pain
  • Swelling in the abdomen
  • Spread to the skin
  • Spread to the gums. Note that leukemia cells can spread to other organs. Spread to the brain and spinal cord eyes, testicles, kidneys, or other organs.

CAUSES

  • Radiation and radon exposure
  • Exposure to benzene
  • Smoking
  • Genetic reasons
  • Past chemotherapy
  • Blood disorders
  • Auto immune conditions
  • Drinking alcohol during pregnancy
  • Being overweight.
