Pulmonary Hpertension
Pulmonary hypertension is a hemodynamic state defined by a resting mean pulmonary artery pressure at or above 25 mm hg. Because this definition is based on hemodynamic criteria, pulmonary hypertension can be the result of a variety of diseases of different causes.
SYMPTOMS
Pain in the chest, dizziness, fatigue, inability to exercise, or low blood pressure, chest pressure, chronic cough, fast heart rate, shortness of breath, swelling, or swollen legs
CAUSES
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, such as emphysema.
- Lung disease such as pulmonary fibrosis, a condition that causes scarring in the tissue between the lungs' air sacs (interstitium)
- Sleep apnea and other sleep disorders.
