Retinal Migrane

Retinal migraine (also known as ophthalmic migraine, and ocular migraine) is a retinal disease often accompanied by migraine headache and typically affects only one eye. It is caused by ischaemia or vascular spasm in or behind the affected eye.

SYMPTOMS

Sometimes, people who experience retinal migraines will experience a headache after or during the attack on their vision. These headaches can last for a few hours to a few days. Physical sickness, nausea, andpainful throbbing of the head often accompany theheadaches. These typically affect one side of thehead.

CAUSES

Migraines with aura also cause visual disturbances such as flashes of light, blind spots, and other visual changes. However, a retinal migraine differs from a migraine with aura for two main reasons: the visual symptoms only occur in one eye and not both. Complete but temporary blindness may occur in one eye only
