Rotavirus
A virus that is a leading cause of severe diarrhea and dehydration in young children. Rotavirus is the most common cause of diarrhoeal disease among infants and young children. It is a genus of double-stranded rna viruses in the family reoviridae.
SYMPTOMS
Signs and symptoms. Kids with a rotavirus infection have fever, nausea, and vomiting, often followed by abdominal cramps and frequent, watery diarrhea. Kids may also have a cough and runny nose. As with all viruses, though, some rotavirus infections cause few or no symptoms, especially in adults.
CAUSES
Rotavirus is a virus that infects the bowels, causing a severe inflammation of the stomach and bowels (gastroenteritis). Rotavirus is The most common cause of severe diarrhea among infants and children throughout the world and causes the death of about 500,000 children worldwide annually.
