Schistosomal Dysentry

Inflammation of the intestine, with pain,diarrhea, bloody stools, and often a fever above 38.3'c (101'f). ... Dysentery can Be fatal because it can cause severe dehydration. Treatment includes rapid rehydration, sometimes via iv, and medication.

SYMPTOMS

Fatigue, fever and chills, cough, muscle aches, weight loss, enlargement of the liver and spleen, diarrhea, abdominal pain.

CAUSES

Dysentery is rarely caused by chemical irritants or by intestinal worms. Intestinal Amoebiasis is caused by a protozoan parasite, entamoeba histolytica. The amoeba can exist for long periods of time in the large bowel (colon).
