Small Cell Lung Cancer
Small-cell carcinoma (also known as "small-cell lung cancer", or "oat-cell carcinoma") is a type of highly malignant cancer that most commonly arises within the lung, although it can occasionally arise in other body sites, such as the cervix, prostate, and gastrointestinal tract.
SYMPTOMS
- Pain areas: in the bones or chest
- Cough: can be with blood
- Also common: shortness of breath, fatigue, phlegm, or weight loss
CAUSES
Most small cell lung cancer deaths are caused by smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke. Smoking is clearly the strongest risk factor for lung cancer, but it often interacts with other factors. Smokers exposed To other known risk factors such as radon and asbestos are at even higher risk.
