Systemic Lupus
Systemic lupus erythematosus (sle) is an autoimmune disease. In this disease, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue. It can affect the skin, joints, kidneys, brain, and other organs.
SYMPTOMS
Symptoms vary but can include fatigue, joint pain, rash and fever. These can periodically get worse (flare up) and then improve.
CAUSES
The immune system normally fights off dangerousinfections and bacteria to keep the body healthy. Anautoimmune disease occurs when the immune system attacks the body because it confuses it for something foreign. There are many autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (sle).
