SYMPTOMS

Nervousness and tremor
Mental fogginess and poor concentration
Menstrual changes:.
Feeling bloated
Racing heartbeat
Aches and pains
Weight gain
High cholesterol levels
Heat intolerance
Feeling cold
Note: it is important to remember that none of these symptoms is absolutely specific for thyroid disease. All of them may be caused by a number of different conditions and normal states.

CAUSES

Thyroid diseases sometimes result from inappropriate tsh levels, or may be caused by problems in the thyroid gland itself. The most common cause of hypothyroidism is hashimoto's thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition where the body makes antibodies that destroy parts of the thyroid gland.
