Diseases
Umbilical Hernia
An umbilical hernia is a sac (pouch) formed from the inner lining of your belly (abdominal cavity) that pushes through a hole in the abdominal wall at the belly button.
SYMPTOMS
A common sign of an umbilical hernia is a protruding bellybutton, which in infants may be most noticeable when they cry.
CAUSES
If the muscles don't join together completely in the midline of the abdomen, this weakness in the abdominal wall may cause an umbilical hernia at birth or later in life. In adults, too much abdominal pressure can cause an umbilical hernia. Possible causes in adults include: obesity.
