Urethral Sticture

A urethral stricture is a narrowing of the urethra caused by injury, instrumentation, infection and certain non-infectious forms of urethritis.

SYMPTOMS

  • Weak urine flow or reduction in the volume of urine.
  • Sudden, frequent urges to urinate.
  • A feeling of incomplete bladder emptying after urination.
  • Frequent starting and stopping urinary stream.
  • Pain or burning during urination.
  • Inability to control urination (incontinence)

CAUSES

  • Urethral stricture is much more common in men than in women. ...
  • Congenital urethral strictures (present at birth) are also considered rare.
  • Any inflammation of the urethra resulting from injury, trauma, previous surgery, or infection can cause urethral stricture.
