Vibrio Cholerae (Cholera)
Cholera. : any of several diseases of humans and domestic animals usually marked by severe gastrointestinal symptoms: as. a : an acute diarrheal disease caused by an enterotoxin produced by various strains of a comma-shaped gram-negative bacterium of the genus vibrio (v. cholerae synonym v).
SYMPTOMS
Key symptoms are diarrhoea and dehydration. Rarely, shock and seizures may occur in severe cases.
CAUSES
Cholera is an infectious disease that causes severe watery diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration and even death if untreated. It is caused by eating food or drinking water contaminated with a bacterium called vibrio cholerae.
