Emphysema: is a lung condition featuring an abnormal accumulation of air due to enlargement and destruction of the lung's many tiny air sacs resulting in the formation of scar tissue. The destruction of the air sacs and formation of scar tissue is permanent and the disease is incurable.

SYMPTOMS

Wheezing
Cough
Chest tightness or pain
Loss of appetite and weightloss
Depression
Poor sleep quality
Decreased sexual function.

CAUSES

Emphysema is a form of chronic (long-term) lung disease which is caused due to long-term exposure to airborne irritants, including:

Tobacco consumption
Smoke
Marijuana smoke
Air pollution
Manufacturing fumes
Rarely, emphysema is caused by an inherited deficiency of a protein that protects the elastic structures in the lungs. It's called alpha-1-antitrypsindeficiency emphysema.
