Kidney failure, also known as renal failure or renal insufficiency, is a medical condition of impairement of kidney function in which the kidneys fail to adequately filter metabolic wastes from the blood.

SYMPTOMS

A reduced amount of urine
Swelling of your legs, ankles, and feet from retention of fluids caused by the failure of your kidneys to eliminate water waste
Unexplained shortness of breath
Excessive drowsiness or fatigue
Persistent nausea
Confusion
Pain or pressure in your chest
Seizures
Coma

CAUSES

Kidney disease is most often caused by other conditions that put a strain on the kidneys. High blood pressure (hypertension) and diabetes are the most common causes of kidney disease. The evidence indicates that high blood pressure causes just over a quarter of all cases of kidney failure.
