Oligodendroglilal Tumors
Oligodendroglioma: a rare, slow-growing brain tumor that begins in cells called oligodendrocytes, which provide support and nourishment for cells that transmit nerve impulses. Also known as oligodendroglial tumor.
SYMPTOMS
- Seizures.
- Headaches (not alleviated by pain killers and are worse in mornings associated with nausea and vomiting)
- Mental status change (general changes in brain function)
- Vertigo or nausea.
- Visual loss (altered vision or visual hallucinations)
CAUSES
Signs of oligodendroglial tumor often include symptoms of increased intracranial pressure stemming from a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid, focal neurological deficits and headache. These tumors may also occasionally cause some patients to present with stroke-like transient ischemic attacks or intracerebral hemorrhage.
