Wegener’s Granulomatosis
An uncommon type of inflammation of small arteries and veins (vasculitis) that classically involves the vessels supplying the tissues of the lungs, nasal passages (sinuses), and kidneys. Wegener's Granulomatosis usually affects young or middle-aged adults.
SYMPTOMS
Symptoms may include sinus pain, cough, fever, joint aches, blood in urine and hearing loss.
CAUSES
It appears to develop after an infection or other inflammation-causing event triggers an abnormal reaction from your immune system. This reaction can lead to inflamed, constricted blood vessels and harmful inflammatory tissue masses (granulomas).
