Slap Cheek
An infectious disease primarily found in children that is caused by transmission of the human parvovirus b19 through the upper respiratory tract. Symptoms include fever and a skin rash that begins on the cheeks and spreads to other body surfaces. Also called. erythema infectiosum.
SYMPTOMS
- Whole body: fever or fatigue
- Also common: rash on the face, coughing, headache, itching, nausea, runny nose, or sore throat
CAUSES
Slapped cheek syndrome is caused by a virus called parvovirus b19. This is found in the droplets in the coughs and sneezes of someone with theinfection.
